Velodyne Lidar is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for Opto-Electronic. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate to join our talented team in developing and producing cutting-edge lidar sensors. Primary focus for this role will be specialty equipment bring-up, programming, maintaining, line transfer and scaling with overseas partners. Equipment performs complex, automated precision alignment and mounting of optical and opto-electronic components. Equally important will be process monitoring and refinement of existing processes for yield and throughput optimization. Candidate is also expected to drive equipment development with external partners for next generation product cycles to meet lower cost targets, improved performance, and smaller product footprint. The position will be based in San Jose CA. Specific Job Requirements: Experience with micron precision assembly processes for complex opto-mechanical products which achieved medium to high volume levels Interested in maintaining, organizing, and improving an evolving automation codebase across multiple tools and processes Experience with some or all: Mounting of optical components, optical alignment, adhesive expert and fixture design Excellent written and oral communications skills High tech experience within a fast-paced, start-up environment Successful track record of accomplishing desired results Effective, hard worker with a team player "can-do" approach Ownership of soft and hardware portion of automated specialty equipment for complex optical alignment processes Troubleshoot, adapt, and adjust code base and process parameters with the aim of improving cycle time, yield, and process robustness. Ability to plan and conduct design of experiments. Interpret results for root cause failure analysis. Define procedures and processes, craft work instruction Training of machine operators Develop tooling and fixtures for assembly and process development Prepare technical reports, analysis, recommendations, and presentations reflecting the status and results of projects in progress on a regular basis Interface for CM Partner Management Self-motivated and able to contribute and thrive in a fast-changing environment Knowledge: Knowledge of programming languages, preferably PLC Ladder Logic, C++, Mathematica, LabView, Matlab, or another automation focused language Proficient in SolidWorks or an equivalent mechanical design software package Familiar with theory behind simple optical lens systems Preferred Education and Experience Requirements: BS or MS in Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering (Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Hardware, or similar) 7+ years of industrial experience with manufacturing of opto-electronic products is preferred Travel: Occasional travel to Europe and Asia To all recruitment agencies: Velodyne Lidar does not accept agency resumes.
