Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.PROPULSION TECHNICIAN (STARSHIP)The Propulsion Components team develops the most advanced spacecraft and launch vehicle components in the world. Our technicians serve as hardware build and test experts for the flow control devices that drive the critical capabilities on our Starship vehicle - from engine throttling to attitude control. You will build valves, regulators, and actuators for maximum reliability in extreme environments, with temperatures ranging from F to -400F and pressures beyond 10,000 psig. As a technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of build quality, ensure tests are being run correctly and will directly interface with build engineers on the floor. Technicians in this role will be expected to understand component functionality to assist in troubleshooting, recognizing potential issues before they occur and to help update work instructions to reduce possibilities of future errors.RESPONSIBILITIES:Build and test valves, regulators and actuatorsMaintain a professional and neat work areaResponsible for staging, installing, set-up, testing and de-staging of production hardwareTroubleshoot failure modes, provide photo documentation and work directly with engineers to solve problemsAccept or reject test units based on calculated test data and resultsPerform work according to procedures, specifications and test instructionsAccurately record daily work completion to report to the lead technicianBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of professional experience working in a test or assembly rolePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Completed training in building or testing of propulsion, aviation or automotive hardware5+ years of aerospace component testing experienceA license5S knowledge and experienceHigh attention to detail in order to ensure safety and accuracy of testing proceduresPrevious interaction and correspondence with support engineersEmbodies team mentality and is coachable and reliableExperience with pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices, and mechanical and electrical systemsBasic computer, problem solving, and decision-making skillsStrong mathematical, written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to work independently or as part of a team, meet aggressive schedules, operate and understand readouts on standard test instrumentationHigh pressure testing knowledgeExperience in the aerospace industryADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassistedFlexible and willing to work all shifts, over time, and weekends as neededITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
