Our US business is growing rapidly and we are looking for passionate and dedicated employees to join us on our mission to change the world.We are looking for an experienced Director of Operations to oversee the management of all areas of manufacturing to produce Lord Jones edibles and topicals. Reporting directly to the VP, Operations, this individual will have overall responsibility to plan, direct, organize, and control the operations in a multi-plant organizational structure. This includes supervision of manufacturing, production, packaging, maintenance, warehousing, and logistics functions within multiple manufacturing, distribution and retail facilities. We are rapidly expanding and poised for explosive growth within the fastest growing industry in the U.S. and this person will play an integral role in supporting this growth.ResponsibilitiesPlans, directs and establishes operating activities for production, manufacturing/procurement operations including production planning, scheduling, resource allocation (equipment and personnel) and materials management.Drives implementation of new processes/capabilities in support of strategic growth plans and continuously looks for ways to drive productivity and process improvements at each facility.Drives efficient flow of material throughout the manufacturing facilities, with emphasis on cost improvement, cycle time and production time reduction. Prioritizes production schedules based on customer demand and strategic importance.Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommend opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure.Identifies documents and drives departmental metrics for productivity, safety, quality, and any other metrics required by the company.Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures, including training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.Works with the Quality Assurance team on critical items related to GMPs and Quality systems rules and procedures.Plant-floor level involvement to drive production goals, optimize performance, and encourage employee engagement in continuous improvement activitiesEstablish, measure, and evaluate critical KPI's. Manage production standards in relation to KPI's and drive continuous improvement.Generate and implement programs that streamline processes, optimize costs, and renovate systems in a highly changing environment.Coordinate new product launches with Product Development team and drive the implementation of new products and formulations into manufacturing facilities.Assist with the development of budgets and recommend expenditures for capital equipment and facility improvements and play a key role in annual strategic planning initiative.Inspire, coach, and support key leaders and team members within each facility, with a goal increasing engagement, retention, and career development.Demonstrate a strong emphasis on process and execution, personal accountability and performance, and clear communication.Skills & RequirementsBachelors Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain/Distribution/Logistics, Operations Management, or Engineering required.10+ years of proven leadership experience with a top company in the food manufacturing industry.Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment and a continuous improvement mindset.Previous experience managing large teams across multiple facilities and multiple lines of equipment. This includes production, packaging, maintenance, warehousing, and logistics.Strong analytical and problem solving skills that enable him/her to assess, quantify, and resolve operational issues and trends.Superior leadership and interpersonal skills, including training, coaching, and development.A self-starter with a strong work ethic and an energetic style; sets the example and creates an environment of high expectations.A confident hands-on individual who is comfortable being in a production facility.Working knowledge of budgeting, production planning, scheduling, forecasting, and fulfillment.Strong systems skills including MS Office/ERP systems, combined with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.Ability to influence decisions through knowledge of day to day flow of production, products, ingredients, packaging, and overall key manufacturing decision points.General understanding and experience with technical food topics such as product specifications, lab testing, quality systems and certifications, and regulatory requirements.Highly detail oriented and organized individual who can work closely with operations team members on improving business processes and procedures.Change agent leadership skills to drive the cultural transformation necessary to achieve world-class performance within the organization.
