Your work will have real-world impact, and you'll be supported in achieving your career goals.Location/Division Specific InformationPleasanton, CA/GSD OperationsHow will you make an impact?The Specialty Chemical Manufacturing Team is responsible for producing many of the key chemical compounds used in oligo synthesis, PCR and sequencing including fluorescent dyes, amidites, polystyrene supports, linkers, NHS esters and functionalized nucleosides. We are seeking an energetic individual with strong communication, leadership, technical and operational skills to join our dynamic and fast paced team. This position will provide technical support to the Specialty Chemical Manufacturing work center and will be also be expected to work in the manufacturing lab. The scientist will support the generation and review of work orders/batch records, and technical summary documents to support the timelines of individual projects. The scientist will also support the investigation and documentation of any deviations in production. The scientist will support the implementation of new component systems, change parts, and other process related activities to support ongoing and new projects. This work may include process improvement activities, product transfer activities, and other activities that would be project driven. The scientist will provide mentoring and guidance to other scientist. The scientist will have to make decisions that will support production and support the goals of the project. The scientist will also help the production team in executing manufacturing protocols and performing in-process testing of products on HPLC, UV/Vis and NMR. The candidate will follow SOPs and work in compliance with safety, regulatory and quality guidelines.What will you do?Participate on project teams as member, leader, or liaison to facilitate the team's activities and achievement of goals.Recognize potential process improvements, recommends associated actions, and develops and implements appropriate solutions.Problem solving, fixing routine methods, interpreting unexpected results, expected to highlight solutions to problems.Provide laboratory investigation of Quality Notifications/CAPAsUse highly specialized equipment and instrumentation in manufacturingManufacture compounds per manufacturing batch record as needed.Follow all EH safety requirementsAddress and report problems in daily manufacturing and propose effective countermeasuresPeriodically review and discuss your priorities with supervisorCommunicate effectively with production staffInteract effectively in a cross functional settingCritically review processes and provide input to supervisorProficient in manufacturing processesAdhere to ISO 13485 guidelines and the Life Technologies quality policyMeet minimum productivity standardsHow will you get here?EducationRequires a Master's degree or higher in Chemistry with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis.
