Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Position SummaryThe maintenance worker is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the entire facility including repairs and ensuring equipment is safe to operate at all times under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.Essential FunctionsDuties & Responsibilities: (not listed in order of priority)Maintain building maintenance upkeep and daily janitorial tasks of the facility. Perform Janitorial services including stripping and waxing floors, moving furniture and other housekeeping. Must perform daily rounds and complete daily inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with health, safety and OSHA guidelines. Check all program areas for potential health safety problems or violation. Must report all repairs, deficiencies and safety issues to Maintenance Manager. Assigned to distribution of cleaning/maintenance supplies needed for shelter operations. Maintain the grounds of required gardening services. Assist with operation of resident chores and assignments. Assist with operation of resident chores and assignments. Maintain vehicles assigned for use, report repairs/maintenance required to management. Responsible for upkeep of facility linen and cleaning inventories. Inventory of shelter tools, and maintain inventory in a safe operating condition and in secure storage area. Must maintain positive working relation with Bell Shelter and The Salvation Army staff, volunteers, residents, visitors, and community representatives. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and Executive Director.Requirements Working ConditionsMust be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbsMinimum Qualifications1. Minimum of 1 year experience in the janitorial field and/or vocational certificate of training on building maintenance of related field.2. Valid Class C driver License3. Forklift Certification a plus.4. High school diploma or GED 5. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and Health Department Standards.6. Experience working with the homeless population and persons with addiction/alcohol problems preferred, not mandatory.7. CPR and First Aid certification a must.8. TB-cleared prior to start date.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities1. Communication skills both oral and written a plus2. Ability to carry our assignments independently and good time management skills.3. Abel to safely use manual and/or power tools.4. Service minded and able to function in a multi-facility environment. 5. Ability to please orders and calculate inventories for production.6. Must have strong sense of workplace ethics and understanding of confidentiality protocols.7.
