Director of Finance

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Finance serves as the primary leader of The Trevor Project's financial operations, including oversight of accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, creation of financial statements and reports, and advisement of the executive team and stakeholders on financial decisions. The Finance Director is responsible for monitoring and maintaining internal controls while overseeing financial systems and related compliance requirements. The Director of Finance will supervise the Senior Revenue Manager and will help to further build out the Finance team to meet the needs of the organization.

What you'll do:

Serve as the go-to leader in the organization for all things finance
Direct the day-to-day accounting operations including oversight of accounts payable and receivable, and maintenance of the general ledger
Prepare, analyze and present financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow) in an accurate and timely manner
Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial results to stakeholders and respond to strategic questions in an accurate and timely fashion
Produce financial reports for grants including all required financial deliverables as stated per grant awards and contracts
Own and lead the annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the COO; monitor progress and changes and produce monthly budget versus actual reports
Own and execute the annual audit and tax filing process
Knowledge in developing and maintaining the organization-wide Chart of Accounts
Develop appropriate investment strategies and oversee their implementation
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; periodically update the organization's accounting manual
Remain up-to-date on best practices in nonprofit finance, business systems, and internal control measures, and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations
