Job ID: 548601BR Date posted: Feb. 03, 2021 Locations: Palmdale, California Description:Apply composite material engineering principles to enable manufacturing (and/or research and development) of composite parts, including fiber reinforced organic matrix materials and fabrication processes such as Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), and traditional hand lay-up. Material and Process (M) tasks include: 1) interface with engineers regarding technical issues concerning raw composite materials, parts fabrication, new materials/processes, and/or review of manufacturing plans; 2) Participate in composite research and/or qualification plans and implementation; 3) material characterization and process development; 4) participate in proper selection of materials and processes for parts and products; 5) participate in non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes; 6) author composite specifications; and 7) generate and present technical presentations.***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and ability to obtain a clearance.***Basic Qualifications:Engineering or other technical (STEM) bachelor's or master's degree.Minimum 2 years experience working with composite materials, processes, fabrication/manufacturing methods, test, and inspection processes.***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and ability to obtain a clearance.***Desired Skills:Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Composites, Polymers, or Chemistry highly preferred.Training in statistical process control and composite processing.Familiar with material characterization techniques and process development.Familiar with creating and revising material and process specifications, reports, and test plans. Familiar with reading and interpreting engineering drawings.Familiar with non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes. Strong verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.Some experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.
